Taipei Climate

Taipei has a humid subtropical climate characterized by hot, humid summers and mild, cooler winters. From late spring through summer you can expect high temperatures, heavy humidity, and frequent showers, with the hottest months often feeling sticky and uncomfortable without air conditioning. The region also faces a seasonal period of intense rain and strong winds during the typhoon season, which can bring short bursts of very heavy rain and occasional disruption to transport. Autumn is generally the most pleasant time, with milder temperatures and clearer skies, while winter is relatively mild compared with more northern places, though it can be damp and cool and sometimes foggy. Rain is distributed unevenly through the year, so having a waterproof jacket or umbrella is useful almost any season. Air quality can vary, especially on calm winter days, so people with respiratory issues should monitor local readings. Understanding the local climate helps with packing for trips, planning outdoor activities, preparing homes for weather extremes, and managing energy use like cooling in summer. For gardeners, commuters, and event planners, knowing the seasonal patterns makes daily life and long-term planning easier.
